Established in 1895, the University of Texas at Arlington is an open research institution which is associated with the Universities Research Association and the Oak Ridge Associated University. In 1965, the university joined the University of Texas system. It is classified under the high-research activity institution. In 1905, the number of enrolments increased to 150 students. Initially, the university was known as the North Texas Agricultural College. Later on, in 1967, the university was renamed to its current name. By 1992, the student’s enrolments increased to 4,200 students, and by 2018, it rose to 42, 000 students, including the undergraduates and postgraduates. The university has been recognised as an emerging research university in 1987.
